Hello, dear friends and followers of Robyn’s Nest,
It is with a heavy heart that I share some sad news from our latest litter of mini goldens. As many of you know, we keep a close eye on our puppies, weighing them multiple times a day to ensure they are thriving. Unfortunately, we noticed that one of our sweet puppies, the little boy with the yellow collar, was not gaining weight. By day two, his belly became distended, and it was clear he was struggling to pass food.
This condition, known as an imperforate anus, is a birth defect that affects many newborns each year. Despite our best efforts and immediate veterinary care, our little boy’s condition was confirmed, and there was nothing more we could do to help him. We made the difficult decision to have the vet put him to sleep to prevent any further suffering.
At Robyn’s Nest, we take the health and well-being of our puppies very seriously. We always ensure that any struggling puppy receives a thorough examination and necessary tests, such as x-rays, to determine the best course of action. Our priority is to advocate for our puppies and make humane decisions in their best interest.
Transparency is a cornerstone of our business. While some breeders may wait over a week before announcing litters to avoid sharing sad news like this, we believe in being open and honest with our community. Nature has its way, and sometimes, despite our best efforts, we face heartbreaking losses.
With the passing of our little boy, our litter now consists of six puppies. Initially, we were excited about the symbolism of seven puppies born on the seventh month and the seventh day, and we had chosen an angelic theme for their names. However, given the recent events, we have decided to change the theme to our original idea: the Classic Tails litter. We will be renaming and re-introducing the puppies later today.
Thank you for your understanding and support during this difficult time. Your kindness and compassion mean the world to us.
With gratitude,
Robyn
